A Retreat in the Heart of the City
A house in the middle of the city. Built for a family who spends most of their time in motion – at work, in life, in everyday routines. What they needed was a place that slows things down. That doesn’t demand attention. A home that brings clarity, not more noise.
From the very beginning, the conversations weren’t about trends or styles – but about calm. About rooms that don’t try to impress. Materials that age well. Light that supports the space rather than dominating it. The layout follows everyday needs. The planning grew slowly – step by step – into something that feels right without having to explain itself.

Rooms where time slows down

A kitchen that’s central, without showing off
At the heart of the house lies the kitchen. It opens into the living space – not separated, not enclosed. The almost five-metre-long island made of brushed stainless steel was custom-built for the room. It holds the centre. Yes, it has presence – almost like a diva. But not one that steals the spotlight. It’s there to work. To support everyday life. Quietly. On both sides, floor-to-ceiling cabinets made of oiled and brushed oak surround the island. The wood adds depth and warmth to the space.
Large windows are fitted with wooden slatted blinds that filter sunlight, casting soft shadows across the floor and catching the light on the steel surface. The result is a balanced tension between coolness and warmth. Between material and light. Between function and atmosphere.

What stays is clarity and calm
In the rest of the house, the same sense of calm continues: Polished cement floors, warm-toned oak and handwoven rugs made from pure natural fibres. Materials that are allowed to age. Furniture from the .PEAM collection – made by hand in small workshops – sits alongside vintage pieces with history. Nothing is trying to stand out. That’s what makes it work so well.
